Chapter 1: The Five-Dollar Mask
On Halloween evening the antique market glowed under dim yellow lights. Elena walked alone, looking for something cheap she could take home as a small surprise for Marcus. She didn’t usually come to places like this; the holiday atmosphere just felt nice enough to wander through for a while.
Elena was twenty-seven, ordinary-looking, a little soft around the middle, with a round face that wasn’t especially striking but still gentle when she smiled. Marcus was thirty, similarly soft and average in height, plain-featured, but consistently kind to her. They’d been together for several years. The affection was still there, yet the days had settled into something quiet and familiar. Life was fine. Nothing was wrong. It just lacked the edge it used to have.
She stopped at a stall tucked into a quieter corner. The vendor was an old man with white hair and glasses, smiling in a way that looked warm and harmless.
The table was cluttered: yellowed books, a small wooden box carved with odd symbols, a few dried herbs, a pendant that looked like bone, and some metal tools whose purpose she couldn’t guess. A black mask lay off to one side, and her eyes caught on it.
The mask was a flat, deep black. The workmanship was average, the edges and seams a little rough—clearly an ordinary Halloween decoration. The eye slits were long and slanted upward, giving it a slight demonic look. The mouth opening was wide enough to show several sharp teeth. The overall design leaned toward the usual Halloween devil mask, though nothing about it was particularly refined. Along one edge ran a very thin dark-red line, easy to miss unless you looked closely.
Elena picked it up. It was heavier than it looked, denser than ordinary plastic. The moment her fingertips touched the outside, an unnatural warmth rose through them. She ran her thumb across the surface. It was smooth, with only the slightest resistance, the way thin rubber feels when it’s just been warmed by body heat. The warmth and faint stickiness made her brush her fingers over it again. Under her touch she could feel a soft give and spring.
She turned the mask over and pressed her thumb against the inside. The interior was softer, with a finer, more clinging texture. When she pressed down it sank slowly and rose back just as slowly, like warm rubber. When she lifted her finger there was a light pull, as if the material had briefly held on. The sensation was oddly pleasant. She left her thumb there a moment longer. The weight of the mask kept pulling at her hand.
A memory surfaced. Once, by accident, she had seen something on Marcus’s phone: a photo of a person completely sealed inside a black latex suit, head and face fully enclosed. Marcus had panicked, flipped the phone face-down, and muttered something about “just looking,” then changed the subject. Elena was easygoing and hadn’t pressed it. She’d only thought it was a little strange.
The feel under her thumb brought that image back. This is rubber, she thought.
The photo flashed through her mind again: a figure wrapped tight in glossy black latex. Head, face, eyes, mouth—all sealed with no gaps. The body was compressed inside the material, the surface catching highlights. Arms raised. It looked as if the person had been locked inside a second skin.
Her fingers paused.
The old man smiled. “It’s just a regular Halloween mask. If you like it, take it. They come as a pair—I’ll give you both.” He reached under the counter and set down an almost identical second mask. “Cheap. Five dollars.”
Elena looked at the one in her hand. An idea formed. Maybe she could use them as a surprise. They were close, but the years had flattened things. Sex had dropped to roughly once a month. Marcus usually started it. She could still come several times, yet over time it had started to feel routine, less urgent than it used to be. Life was fine. It was just a little dull. She was normally timid around anything involving demons or monsters. If she hadn’t wanted to surprise Marcus, she wouldn’t have spent five dollars on something like this. She’d have bought lottery tickets instead.
She paid, then carefully put both masks into her bag. The bag hung heavier than she’d expected.
She walked around the market a little longer. As evening deepened, more young people appeared on the streets in exaggerated costumes and heavy makeup. Elena, who disliked that kind of thing, quickened her pace and kept her eyes down.
Still, the thought of the masks she’d bought for Marcus made her keep going. She wanted to give him the surprise.
After a while she felt the bag shift. Not a strong movement—just a light, crawling motion inside. She stopped, opened it, and looked. Both masks lay still. She reached in. The moment her fingers touched one, the warm elastic feeling returned, stronger than before.
She pulled her hand out and brought her fingers to her nose. The rubber scent climbed from her fingertips into her nose and up into her head—sweet and slightly bitter, mixed with residual warmth. It wasn’t sharp, but it sat heavy. Her face felt warm. She leaned in and smelled again. The same sweet-bitter latex smell filled her nose and the space behind her eyes. A sudden impatience rose in her. She wanted to get home and show Marcus the masks.
She cinched the bag shut and walked faster.
After that the bag stayed still. She told herself it had only been the bag swinging while she walked. The old man had said they were ordinary Halloween masks. Marcus was good to her. Giving him a small surprise couldn’t hurt. If he didn’t like them, she could always say they were cheap decorations she’d bought on impulse.
After she left, the old man’s eyes turned fully red, the pupils reduced to tiny black points. His fingers lengthened into sharp black nails. He looked down at his hands and smiled faintly.
Behind him a black-red portal opened, its edges flickering with dark-red light. He watched it and said quietly, “The demon plan for this universe is complete.”
He stepped through. The portal closed behind him. The stall vanished with it, leaving only empty pavement, as if nothing had ever been there.
Chapter 2 (Part 1): Wearing the Mask for the First Time
Marcus wasn't home from work yet when Elena got in. She pushed the bag with the two masks into the very back of the bedroom closet. Her fingertips still held a trace of warmth from them. She went to the kitchen and reheated leftovers, but a faint, sweet-bitter smell of rubber kept hanging at the tip of her nose, and nothing she did would clear it.
It was almost eight by the time Marcus walked in. They sat down to eat. Reaching for a bite of vegetables, Elena caught herself sniffing again. The latex smell was still there, climbing from her nose all the way to the crown of her head, and her cheeks went warm. She tried to act normal. Her mind kept drifting anyway.
"How was your day?" Marcus asked.
"Fine." It came out vague. She looked down and kept eating. The smell kept dragging her thoughts back to the masks in the bag—a little uneasy, a little eager.
After dinner Marcus went to shower. Elena used the gap to take the bag out of the closet and set it on the bed. She hesitated. Then she decided: tonight. She'd show him tonight.
Marcus came out of the bathroom, saw the bag on the bed, and asked, "What's this?"
Elena opened it and lifted out the two black masks. "Just something I grabbed for Halloween," she said. "I wanted to surprise you. They were cheap—five bucks."
As she pulled them out, a folded slip of paper fell from the bag and landed on the bed.
Marcus picked it up and unfolded it. It read:
"Demon masks. For best effect, both must be worn at the same time. To remove them, both wearers must agree."
He handed it to her. "What's that supposed to mean?"
Elena read it twice and shook her head. "No idea. The old guy said they were just regular Halloween masks." As she spoke, that sweet-bitter rubber smell drifted past her nose again.
Marcus picked up one of the masks and turned it over in his hands. Mediocre work—the edges a little rough, a few fangs inside the mouth. "Looks like a regular silicone hood," he said, but there was a smile in his voice. "Still... the fact that you bought this for me? That's really sweet."
Elena looked at him, a little embarrassed. "Want to try it on?"
Marcus put the mask down on the bed and glanced at her. "You first?"
Elena nodded. She picked up the mask and drew a deep breath. Right then, the smell got stronger.
She held the mask up between them and looked at Marcus over it. Up close the edges really were rough, the work cheap; through the mouth opening she could see a crooked row of fangs, and the eye slits were long and tilted upward. She was gripping it so hard her knuckles had gone pale.
"Babe, I'm kind of scared," she said quietly.
Marcus was sitting on the edge of the bed, and his voice softened right away. "Hey, it's fine. If you don't want to, don't. Nobody's making you."
She shook her head and raised the mask to her face. "I want to try," she said. "Just this once."
She lined up the bottom of the mask with her chin and tried to pull it up. The inside was warm and slick, like it had been coated in lubricating gel, and it went faintly tacky under her fingers—unlike any rubber she'd ever handled. She tried to work her chin in, but the edges caught on both cheeks and wouldn't slide. The mask had looked roomy. It was tighter than she'd expected.
"It's tight..." she said, muffled, tilting her head. One hand hauled down hard on the left edge; the other pressed down on the crown. Twice it slipped out of her grip and she had to line it up all over again. A thin film of sweat broke out on her forehead. She felt rushed, and a little ridiculous.
Marcus watched her. "Need a hand?"
"No." She caught her breath, her voice shaking a little. "I've got it."
She adjusted the angle again, took a deep breath, held it, and pulled down with both hands at once. Halfway on, the mask jammed over her nose and mouth, its edge cinched tight across them. Suddenly she couldn't breathe. Only a thread of air came through a narrow gap. Her chest went heavy. The edges of her vision dimmed.
"The smell's going straight to my head. I can't really breathe." Her voice came out of the mask thick and muffled, the discomfort obvious.
Marcus was on his feet at once. "Take it off? You look like you're really struggling."
She shook her head and yanked again. The edge scraped across her cheeks with a fine, stinging burn. Holding her breath, palms clamped to both sides, she shifted the angle one more time—and at last her whole face slid inside. It had been far more of a fight than she'd imagined; for several seconds in the middle she hadn't been able to breathe at all.
Once it was all the way on, the mask fit strangely well, like it had been made for her. As it settled, the rough edges and seams seemed to smooth themselves out; the shoddy spots faded bit by bit until she couldn't feel them anymore. The rim hugged her jaw and temples with almost no gap.
"It feels like it was custom-made for me," she said. "It fits my face perfectly. It's so snug." Her voice was still muffled, but steadier than a moment ago.
Through the narrow eye slits she could only just make out Marcus's worried face. Her view was dim, like looking through thin fog. Something in her gave a small, secret thrill.
She tried moving her mouth and bit lightly down on the fangs inside the mask. The instant her teeth caught on them, her own teeth seemed to harden—there was an unfamiliar solidity when she clenched.
In that same instant, a fine, close suction started up on the inside of the mask. It began at her forehead and crept down, around her eyes, along both sides of her nose, over her ears. As it took hold she choked again for a moment—her mouth and nose felt softly blocked, and she could only sip air through a sliver of space. Even her eyes felt drawn tight.
"It's... sucking onto me," she said.
Marcus reached out to help her take it off. His fingers found the edge and discovered it had sealed completely to her skin. He tugged gently. The mask moved, and her skin moved with it.
"Don't take it off yet." She shook her head. "Let me get used to it."
The suffocation only lasted a few seconds before the suction leveled off. She could breathe normally again, though with every breath she felt the mask rise and fall with her. Her face was wrapped in a fine, close tightness. Her ears were softly enclosed. Her nose was gently pressed.
The mask began to warm, heat seeping out from the inside. A faint sweet-bitter rubber smell leaked from where it met her skin, and her face flushed.
She didn't say anything else. She turned and walked to the full-length mirror.
In front of it, she unbuttoned her pajamas and peeled off her clothes one piece at a time, dropping them on the floor. The woman in the mirror was on the chubby side: a soft roll at her waist, a slightly rounded belly, full thighs. But her skin was very pale, almost translucent under the lamp. Her breasts were a 36D, hanging naturally without a bra, with a little weight to them.
"My body's... just kind of average," she murmured.
Marcus came over. His eyes rested on her for a moment before he laid a hand lightly on her waist.
"No it's not," he said softly, his thumb slowly stroking her soft skin. "You've always been beautiful. I love how you look right now. Soft. Really cute. And your skin's so pale."
She looked at him. "Babe, do you think I look like your little Halloween demon? Should we wear these out trick-or-treating?"
Marcus stared at her. Elena touched the fangs on the mask again. "With these fangs, I'm not exactly like those latex dolls you look at, huh."
"This is pretty hot too," Marcus said—then caught it. "Wait. You've been looking at my phone again?"
Elena didn't deny it. A fine tightness was starting on her face, spreading slowly from forehead to cheeks. She tried opening her mouth and found there was hardly any room left inside the mask.
She tugged at it again. She could feel it clearly now: the inside had sealed to her skin completely, without the slightest gap. The edge seemed to have melted into her. When she pulled hard, the flesh of her cheeks came with it, but it would not come apart. The suction was spread evenly over her whole face. She tried to dig a fingernail under the edge. She couldn't even get the nail in.
Right then the mask's texture came into sharp focus. When she opened her mouth, the tip of her tongue brushed the inside and met a warm, faintly sticky membrane of rubber—softer than the outside, finely elastic. She pushed her tongue against it; the membrane dimpled and slowly sprang back. When she breathed, warm air moved through the tight space, carrying that sweet-bitter rubber smell from her mouth and nose up to the top of her head. The mask lifted gently with every exhale.
"It's stuck," she said. "Babe, is it stuck? Am I going to be your little demon for the rest of my life?"
Marcus didn't answer right away. He stood beside her. His gaze landed first on her face, completely covered by the mask, then drifted slowly to her pale shoulders and chest. His throat bobbed.
Elena lowered her hands but didn't step away from the mirror. She lifted her fingers and stroked the surface of the mask—forehead, down to her cheeks, down to her chin. It felt smooth and warm, softer than before. She couldn't resist touching the fangs at the mouth again.
"Why would anyone even make a mask like this..." she murmured, fingers still gliding slowly over it. "It looks so ordinary, the work's cheap, but on—it's completely different. It's like it's alive."
She pressed the cheek of the mask and could feel her own skin cradled softly underneath. The sweet-bitter smell was thicker now.
Marcus watched what she was doing. He reached out, let his fingertip hover at the edge of the mask, then touched it lightly. "Don't rush it," he said quietly. "You look... really sexy right now."
Elena glanced at him through the slits and stroked the mask again, temple to chin.
"Can't do it," she said. "Looks like I'm wearing it all night."
Marcus nodded and didn't try to take it off. His thumb made one slow pass along her waist. Elena looked at the mirror again, touched the fangs, and said under her breath, "This thing is... so weird."
Marcus stayed beside her, hand still on her waist, quietly watching her stroke the mask she could no longer take off, again and again.
Her fingers were still resting on the mask when her neck began to tighten. Not a choking tightness—a fine pull from inside the skin, pressing outward. She touched her neck. The skin under her fingertips had gone unnaturally smooth, and the edge of the mask was simply gone; she couldn't find it in front or behind. Her skin color was changing, too, deepening from pale, sinking shade by shade into black, taking on a faint sheen.
"What's happening..." she said quietly, unable to believe it. "It's turning black... the hood doesn't have an edge anymore. It's like it's fused with my skin. How is that even possible..."
Marcus frowned at her. He didn't bring up taking the mask off again. He pulled out his phone and started searching, thumb flicking fast across the screen, his frown deepening.
Her shoulders began to tighten. Elena touched one; it no longer felt like her own skin, and the black gloss was getting stronger. "Babe, it's moving down. I can't stop it."
Marcus looked up at her, then back down. "I'm looking," he said quietly.
When the change reached her chest, the tightness pressed down from her collarbones. A black membrane, thickening by the second, lifted her breasts and made them perkier. She looked down: they were getting bigger, rounder and fuller, the black gloss flowing over them with every breath. She cupped one. Under her fingertips was a warm, black, shining surface that dimpled slowly when she pressed and sprang back when she let go. It was heavier than before, a solid weight sitting in her palm. She squeezed lightly; the membrane gave, but never left her skin. Her nipples were sealed tight beneath it, and the slightest touch told her how sensitive they were inside.
"They're bigger... and all black," she said, her voice tight. "Babe, I'm scared."
Marcus's thumb stopped on the screen. He looked at her chest, lifted in black latex, and something in him sank. He wanted to say We'll figure it out, but it stuck in his throat. The way she looked right now was almost exactly the full-enclosure latex he'd been secretly looking at all along. He wanted to pull her out of this thing—and he knew, very clearly, that he didn't truly want her to change back.
"...Don't move for a second," was all he finally said.
Elena didn't catch the tangle in his voice. She just kept feeling the change in her chest.
The membrane kept going down. When it spread below her belly, it covered her sex as well. Her softness there was wrapped in a warm black membrane and grew gradually fuller, its surface smooth and gleaming. She pressed her thighs together on reflex, then reached down and touched. The moment her fingertips made contact, she felt it—smooth, warm, elastic black. She pressed. The softness was still there underneath, but held firmly inside this new skin. And then, without warning, it began to itch. Not an unpleasant itch—a fine, close feeling, the membrane rubbing ever so lightly. Her fingers went still.
"...It's actually kind of okay," she said softly, some of the panic gone from her voice.
At that, Marcus looked up. He saw where her hand had stopped, and his throat moved. "Are you... sure?"
Elena pressed again. The itch was still there, and she didn't want to pull away from it. "No," she said. "But I'm not as scared as I was."
Marcus didn't say anything. He put his phone down and looked at her. He was still rattled, but watching her body disappear into black latex, he couldn't hold down the other thing he was feeling.
The change in her arms reached her wrists. The membrane ran on past them and sheathed every finger, her skin turning black and glossy in step. She tried bending her fingers; the membrane hugged them tight without getting in the way at all. She held her left hand up in front of her eyes and ran her right fingertips over it, feeling how thick the layer was. Her nails grew longer and sharper, until they were black, pointed demon claws. She turned her hand and watched the tips catch the light.
"My fingers are covered too..." she said.
"Do you still want to change back?" Marcus asked suddenly.
Elena looked at him. "I don't know. A minute ago I really did. Now... not as much."
Marcus went quiet.
The change moved on to her feet. The membrane flowed down from her ankles over the tops of her feet, her soles, her toes, the skin going black and shining. Her toes drew out into a point and her heels lifted, until her feet had become a pair of pointed 14-centimeter stilettos with red soles. She found her balance, then looked in the mirror.
From her neck to her feet, her whole body was sheathed in glossy black latex. Breasts high and full. Her sex wrapped fuller in black membrane. Fingers completely enclosed, nails turned to claws. And on her feet, 14-centimeter pointed heels with red soles.
"Babe," she said. "I think I'm covered. All of me."
Marcus stood beside her, looking at her. "I know," he said quietly.
Elena didn't say anything more. She stood at the mirror, feeling the black latex over every inch of her. Disbelief at first; fear when it reached her chest; something loosening once the itch began—and now a complicated state she didn't want to shake off. Not yet.
Marcus watched her and didn't move. He knew he wanted to help her. He also knew he didn't want her to change back.
With her body sealed in black latex, Elena turned her attention back to her face. She laid the pads of her right fingers on the mask's left cheek. It was warm—but beneath that warmth, she could feel something moving.
Her eyes went first.
She was nearsighted. Without glasses, anything past three meters started to blur; if Marcus stood a little too far away, his features went soft. Now she simply blinked—and felt something growing inside her eye sockets. An impossibly thin, warm membrane appeared at the outermost rim of each eyeball. It didn't press in from the mask. It formed right there, on the surface of her eyes.
She could feel every step of it. The membrane touched the whites of her eyes first and crept forward millimeter by millimeter: warm, slick, faintly sticky, clinging tight to the eyeball wherever it advanced. She tried rolling her eyes to the left and felt the membrane drag for an instant, then catch up and grip hard again, as if countless tiny suction cups were pressing the latex flat against her eyes. No air. No gaps.
It pushed on toward the center. When it reached her irises, the sensation sharpened. Warm latex flowed along the curve of each eye and filled every faint ridge. She could feel her eyeballs being wrapped bit by bit, as if cupped whole in a soft, evenly pressing palm. The instant the coverage was complete, everything went black. Not a slow dimming—just nothing, all at once. She felt the latex seal over her pupils too, cinching gently at the very front, a close, sucking pressure. Her heart skipped. Her fingers tightened on the mask.
The darkness lasted only a few seconds.
When her sight came back, her whole body went rigid.
Her eyeballs were completely wrapped in black latex. Not translucent. No red glow. Just pure black. The whites, the irises, the pupils had all sunk into the same thick, deep black, with no other color anywhere. She turned her eyes slowly toward the mirror and felt the latex move with them, every shift carrying a wet, dragging stickiness, as if her eyes themselves were being softly sucked on. When she blinked, her lids slid over the latex with a faint, tacky sound. Her lashes, latex now too, drew out fine silver threads as they parted, then stuck together again on the next blink.
And yet she could see more clearly than she ever had in her life.
The fog she'd always lived behind as a nearsighted woman was gone. Marcus's face in the mirror, the detail in his eyes, even the faint movement of the skin when his throat bobbed—all of it was sharp, as if pulled right up to her face. She looked across the room. The edge of the dresser, which should have been a blur, was crisp down to the grain. The latex wrapped her eyes and somehow corrected her vision—no, sharpened it.
"My eyes... they're all black," she said. Her voice had gone softer, slower. "But I can see. I can see way too well. I used to be nearsighted... and now it's just fixed."
Marcus hadn't looked away from her once.
Those pure black eyes were fixed on him now: bottomless, quiet, with a pull that felt like it could swallow a person whole. He could see her lashes stick and part when she blinked, could see the black eyeballs turning slowly under the latex. His throat bobbed hard. His breathing dropped noticeably deeper. He didn't speak. He just watched.
Elena held his gaze. She blinked again, very slowly, drawing it out on purpose. The feeling of her eyes sealed in latex was still there—warm, slick, held in a constant suck—and everything she saw was unnaturally sharp.
Her mouth started changing right after.
When she opened her lips a little, she felt the latex of the mask's mouth flowing on its own. The sides drew inward, pulling the corners of her mouth thinner and longer, while the center slowly thickened and swelled. She pushed the tip of her tongue—already changing—against the inside and could feel it plainly: corners narrowed, the middle of her lips lifted thicker and softer. She raised her left hand and pressed the mask's lips with her fingertips. The sides were thin and firm now, barely giving at all; the middle was much softer, sinking deep under pressure and springing back more noticeably. The final shape: long and slim at the sides, full in the middle.
At the same time, the inside of her mouth was expanding.
A warm membrane started in her mouth and spread down her throat. She swallowed and could feel it with total clarity—past the root of her tongue, into her esophagus, and on down. The expansion didn't stop at her neck; it ran all the way to her stomach. She tried a deep breath. Air passing through the latex-lined passage came with a steady warmth and a slight pressure, as if a smooth latex tube had been opened from her mouth straight down to her stomach.
Her tongue changed more than she'd expected.
Once the membrane covered it, it began to lengthen. She felt it extend outward from deep in her mouth, the tip tapering. She stuck it out and found it was considerably longer than before, the tip thin and nimble. She ran it over the mask's lips—first the slimmed sides, then pressing into the full center. The tip curled easily, smooth-surfaced, with latex's springiness. As she drew it back in, she could feel it moving nimbly in the passage that now ran down to her stomach.
Her teeth changed almost at the same moment.
She ran her tongue over them and felt them hardening, sharpening. Their color shifted gradually from white to black, the edges turning keen. She bit down gently: the fangs had fully formed, hard and sharp. Every time her tongue grazed an edge, the sensation was startlingly clear.
Her ears changed more quietly.
She felt the membrane wrap her outer ears and then draw them out, longer. The latex at the sides of the mask was actively extending—not being stretched by her ears. She reached up and touched: pointed shapes had already formed, smooth, fully fused with the mask. When she pinched a tip, the latex bent, then slowly recovered when she let go.
Her forehead came last.
Two small, dull aches bloomed just above the space between her brows. She could feel the latex there rising, slowly gathering from all around toward two points. The membrane was pushed up from within, little by little, until two small horns grew out. She pressed at their base. The latex there had gone so hard it barely gave. The horns themselves were smooth and warm, without a single seam where they met the mask.
As all of this happened, the mask's feel and shape were changing as a whole.
The faint texture that had been on its surface was gone. The latex turned glossy, oil-slick; her fingertips slid over it with almost no resistance, as if it wore a thin coat of oil. When she pressed, it sank and returned more slowly and softly than before, throwing back a clean shine. She turned her face to the mirror and watched the outline of her head change. The crown and back of her skull rounded out—not bigger, just drawn into smoother, softer lines. Meanwhile her chin was sharpening, the latex gently cinching at the jaw, narrowing its curve. The final shape: a rounded crown and a sharp, slender chin, horns and pointed ears included.
She leaned closer to the mirror.
Beneath that glossy black latex, her own features showed faintly through. Where her eyes sat, the bridge of her nose, the outline of her lips—all of it hovered just under the surface, as if seen through dark water. When she blinked, the blurred features moved with her. Not clear. Just faint traces, held down under the latex.
The smell grew stronger through all of it.
The sweet-bitter rubber scent kept seeping from where mask met skin. When she breathed in, it rushed from her nose to the top of her head, and her face went warm. And because the inside of her mouth now ran all the way to her stomach, she could feel the rubber smell not just sitting in her nose but traveling down that passage. Then she caught another scent, drifting from Marcus's direction—faintly salty-sweet. She didn't look up, but she could tell: he was hard, and he was leaking. The two scents mingled and hung in front of her pure black eyes.
"My head... it's rounder," she said softly, fingers still against the mask. "And my chin's pointed."
Marcus looked at her.
The head beneath the mask was completely different now. Bottomless black eyes. Lips slim at the sides and full in the middle. Two small horns on her forehead, pointed ears, a rounded crown tapering to a sharp chin. Glossy black latex sealed all of it tight—and under that latex, her own features still showed faintly through. He didn't speak. He just looked, breathing heavily.
Elena didn't speak either.
She just stood at the mirror, her right hand still on the mask. She could feel all of it: the slick seal over her eyes and the uncanny sharpness of her sight; the passage running from her mouth down to her stomach; the long, pointed tongue; the black fangs; the pointed ears; the little horns; the way her whole head had reshaped into a rounded dome and a sharp chin. The latex was smooth and oil-bright, her face half-visible beneath it. The air was rubber, and him.
She looked at herself in the mirror. She looked at him. Her pure black eyes blinked once more, very slowly.
She knew her head had become something else entirely.
