To the 2021 All-Hallows edition of the plaza
The rest of the year, we tell each other these stories, to titillate, to amuse, to arouse. But come the end of October, along the steady march to winter, the motivations change. As the wind rattles the shutters, and rain lashes against the glass, we want to lock ourselves away, safe from the world, safe from the darkness.
This time of year, we tell each other stories for a different reason. To keep the demons at bay. To ward ourselves against witches, ghouls and spirits. We tell each other tales, so that those tales do not fester inside of us. So that come All Hallow's Eve, we are not alone with them.
These tales, dear reader, help our authors make it through the long, dark, night of Halloween. They need your aid. They need you to join them in this adventure. To bring these stories into the open, in the hope that the light of day makes them less likely to come true. Or at least to ensure that they won't be a victim alone; trapped... helpless... consumed.
There are kinky things out there; deep, dark, depraved things, hiding in your shadow, a hair's breadth away and yet, just out of sight, flitting away as you turn to look. Dare you venture further and learn what they might be?
